Corporate Social Responsibility

Here for change

At Pryers Solicitors, we believe that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) stretches beyond compliance and profit. For us it is about how we use our professional skills, our networks, and our resources to make meaningful contributions within the communities we operate in. We’re proud to support Headway, the brain injury association.

Why we chose Headway

Headway is a national charity focussed on improving life after brain injury, providing information, support and services to survivors, their families and carers.

Brain injury can immediately and permanently change lives someone can lose familiar skills, face cognitive or physical challenges, and need long-term care and advocacy. Headway’s mission aligns closely with our values: professional support, dignity, and rehabilitation.

As Court of Protection solicitors, we often encounter clients whose lives have been profoundly impacted by brain injury and who require expert legal guidance, rehabilitation support and compassion.

Fundraising and awareness

We organise annual fundraising events - such as charity walks, sponsored challenges and client-partner networking breakfasts, where the proceeds are donated to Headway. We also actively promote awareness of brain injury: its causes, long-term impacts and the support available among our staff, clients and wider network.

Knowledge sharing and support

We host regular coffee mornings in our York office for Headway workers and users to encourage knowledge-sharing and discussions of best practice. This helps Headway’s team keep up to date with legal rights and resources available to survivors and carers.

Our fundraising champion

Fundraising is a big part of our firm. Our fundraising champion, Robyn Hawxby, has led a number of fundraising activities at Pryers, raising an impressive amount of money for various charities.

Robyn has completed an impressive array of endurance challenges, raising money on behalf of Pryers, including:

  • Completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge twice, and due to complete again in April 2026 as fundraising for Headway.
  • Completing The Coast to Coast Cycle.
  • Running the Great North Run.
  • Taking part each year in the Great Knaresborough Bed Race with the Switalskis team, which raises money for a variety of local charities.
  • Swimming in a relay across the English Channel, for the charity COSMIC. The relay team raised almost £30,000 to support children and neonatal unit at St Mary's and Queen Charlotte's Hospital in London.

At Pryers, we are so proud of Robyn's efforts to bring the team together to lead regular fundraising activities as part of our corporate social responsibility.

Families who support a vulnerable person often want the same things: security, dignity and the best quality of life possible. When a person lacks mental capacity, managing money can become more complex. Without the right arrangements in place, there is a risk that they may not receive the benefits they are entitled to, or that their funds may not be used in the best way to support their needs.
