Court of Protection property and affairs solicitor

Carmel Walsh is an experienced Court of Protection solicitor. Her legal practice has developed from negotiating complex, high-value settlements in serious injury and clinical negligence claims to supporting vulnerable and injured clients in financial Court of Protection matters and personal injury trusts.

Carmel advises clients on:

  • Court of Protection deputyship applications, including appointments by the Court of Protection as a professional deputy.
  • Financial management for vulnerable or injured clients as a professional deputy or professional trustee.
  • Managing complex compensation awards and long-term care planning.
  • Financial planning and investments.
  • Advising clients and their families on legal, financial, and practical issues after serious injury
  • Co-ordinating the provision of rehabilitation, including therapies, care, accommodation and equipment relevant to individual needs and financial resources.

Carmel is also a court-appointed deputy and professional trustee and the treasurer for the charity Headway York. She is also a member of the Professional Deputies Forum, a network created to share knowledge, legal updates, and best practices among solicitors who act as court-appointed deputies.
